The time has come to accept in our hearts and minds that with freedom comes responsibility.

Nelson Mandela said these words standing before Parliament in 1995 while giving his State of the Nation address as President.

Mr Mandela's words suggest, the health of freedom rests on the level of responsibility it is accompanied by and if elected as the State representative of Barwon I pledge to accept and protect for future generations this responsibility.

"We rise by lifting others"

"At a time when our very Australian ideals and practice of freedom seem to be under threat from a series of sinister acts and behaviours by those who would profess to care for this freedom, it is perhaps a most opportune time to reflect on the exact nature of freedom in the South African context."

It can be argued that some recent generations have never seen the freedom we Aussies use to pride ourselves on, and so it is my responsibility, if elected as Barwon's representative, that I do all things to restore this sense of what freedom actually looks and feels like, without question.

"Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable"

Everyone has it in them to extend a hand and restore dignity in a neighbour's life. And everyone has it in them to contribute to the combating of systemic exclusion, governments exist to enhance a citizens feeling of inclusion, should fight to close any divide on any subject or situation and should never play an active role in any type of governance/restriction on the rights of an individual in the pursuit of applying an overreach of control.

I as a future leader will always support the right for anyone to protest on any matter or regard whether it be personal freedoms or against any government legislation and/or requirement so long as they are peaceful in nature and do not cause physical harm to others.
