The Far West and Orana Region is the worst in NSW for family and domestic violence, it has had the highest rate of domestic violence related assaults of any geographic region in NSW. It also has the highest number of incidents occasioning grievous bodily harm.

In recent years Coonamble, Walgett, Broken Hill and Dubbo Regional council areas, in particular, ranked as four of the top five local government areas for highest rates of domestic violence related assault, with rates up to 7.5 times higher than the state average.
The increased risk of physical harm, and the distinct lack of services and support all combine to trap women, physically and psychologically, in violent relationships.
Expanding drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities and the Drug Court in rural, remote and regional areas, increased funding for Legal Aid, more early intervention services for indigenous justice are just some of the key law and order issues.
