Back To State Issues

Largely ignored - Cost of living impacts on poverty and health of millions of Australians
Rising prices, Tax increases, Energy price hikes, Social security cuts, Medicare cuts, Stagnating wages, together, makes for a difficult day to day environment, especially for families already struggling to get by, but yet if anything we see little in the way of meaningful relief from State Governments...By meaningful, I mean monies that will make a real difference and no one off payments that serve as nothing more than a short term sugar fix.
"The cost of living is being felt and taking its toll around the world"...

As families struggle to get by, this almost inevitably negatively impacts on people's mental health and there is growing evidence of links between financial stress and mental ill health. Many people on social media describe their poverty, as causing them anxiety, stress, and their ability to function, as all they are able to focus on is how to try and survive for today let alone tomorrow. As prices rise yet further, millions of families are simply beyond breaking point and they do not have anywhere or anything left to cut.
We often see two sides to a very different society with on one side of the coin we see reports of Australia's lack of supply of champagne being of some concern, then on the other horrific stories of mothers trying to store yogurt long enough so that they may give the yoghurt as a surprise to their children on Christmas day!
We need to elect more representatives that know what it is like to struggle, know what it is like to go without, come from backgrounds that are working class that having endured hardship in many forms understand what it will take to bring millions of Aussies some relief.
I look at amazement at some of our elected officials and what they decide is appropriate to share on their social media feed, pictures of tax payer trips overseas, trips away at the snow, or pictures of lavish get together put on for governments in pretext of the members suggesting their attendance is a must to try and get a sense of the scale of poverty, homelessness...and don't get me started when I see members of government handing out toys to charities at Christmas time.
Poverty is a decision by non-acting successive governments to do little or nothing, our states social housing has been decimated, sold off to developer's and is not being replaced, most of the MP's own several investment properties and both sides of the major parties, both voted down a recent amendment to keep in existence the "No Reason Needed" eviction status for all NSW tenants, and you don't need a degree to work out that this is not in the best interest of those in power and their investments.
If elected, I will not be owning investment properties or have large shareholdings in anything as I see this as a clear conflict of interest.
It is time to elect candidates like myself whom are part of our very real society and will therefore focus on direct methods of relieving the cost of living stress that is effecting millions of Aussies...it can be done we just need the people in positions of government to have the will to do so.
